St. Mark's closed in July 1995, after scraping through its first inspection by the newly formed education inspection system, which we know today as OFSTED. Our school failed on a return visit by OFSTED.

There were two main reasons for the decision to close our school:

 

• "Weaknesses during a previous inspection were not remedied."

​

• Surplus Places on-roll.

​

A sad ending for a school once renowned for its discipline, education, sports and innovation.
